CHUBBY CHECKER
Chubby Checker inscribes his signature to a fan in black ink.
Inscribed signature: "To Kayo/Chubby/Checker", 4¼x3 card. Magazine photo (color, 2x2¾) affixed on left side. Born Ernest Evans in 1941, Chubby Checker was given his name by Dick Clark's wife, who said he reminded her of Fats Domino. In August 1960, Checker's recording of "The Twist" entered the charts and hit #1 seven weeks later. The Twist dance craze continued for the next 18 months, eventually becoming popular with adult listeners. The resurgence prompted Cameo/Parkway Records to re-release the single in 1962, and it climbed to #1 once again. Checker is the only artist of the Rock and Roll era to have the same single enter the charts twice and go all the way to the top. Fine condition.
