CHUCK DRESSEN
Signature: "Chuck Dressen", 4½x5¼ album leaf. Eight years a Major League third baseman
with the Reds, and briefly a quarterback in the early days of the National Football League,
Chuck Dressen (1894-1966) is best remembered as manager of five Major League teams over
16 seasons. He managed the Cincinnati Reds, Washington Senators, Milwaukee Braves
and Detroit Tigers, but had his greatest success with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He skippered
the Dodgers to a tie for the NL pennant in 1951, a race the Dodgers lost in the famous
3-game playoff against the Giants, and then won back-to-back pennants in 1952-1953.
After those three fine seasons, he was fired for demanding a multi-year contract. Toned at
edges. Frayed upper edge where page was removed from a book. Otherwise, fine condition.
