JOHNSON, who led the New York Mets to a World Series Championship in 1986, took
over the Reds from Tony Perez about a quarter of the way into the season. The team wound
up with a 73-89 record and a fifth place finish in the National League West that year. Johnson
stayed on as manager for another two years and led the Reds to two first place finishes in the
NL Central before being replaced by All-Star RAY KNIGHT (who was part of the roster in
1974 and from 1977 to 1981) for 1996. This ball is also signed by 17 other members of the
1993 roster, including 1995 NL MVP and All Star BARRY LARKIN and All-Stars JOHN
SMILEY and JEFF REARDON, as well as DON GULLETT, who played with the Reds
from 1970 to 1976. Lightly toned and stained. Signatures are lightly faded, but remain legible.
