Miss Sarah Chadwick writes to friend, updating her about her life and mutual acquaintances
Autograph letter signed: "Miss Sarah Chadwick" in pencil. 2 pages, front and verso, 9¾x8 flat, 4¾x8 folded. July 25, 1862. Jefferson City, Missouri. In full: "Dear Nancy, I thought I would write a few lines to you to let you know that I am well and I hope these few lines will find you the same. Elenora is well and kicking John Buckter has been here two or three times and then got [illegible] and I have got another [illegible] money I want to know if you are going to pick ops this summer if you are I want you to get me a place if you please I want to come there and work I have got tired of Jefferson I have got me a blue flannel sack like [illegible] seen [illegible] last night he said he was going to marry you yet please get me a place excuse my bad writing answer this as soon as you get this and let me know when to come I want to go to Water [illegible] first and stay a day or two there. No more at present I remain as ever your friend". A woman discusses the daily going-on's of wartime Jefferson City, referencing finding materials and visiting friends. Normal mailing folds. Very stained throughout. Worn and soiled Small tears in folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
