and clutching a dagger, signed in white ink

English actress Claire Bloom made her London stage debut in The Lady's Not
for Burning (1947), starring the following year as Hamlet's
Ophelia, the first of her many Shakespearean roles. She has said that her
favorite stage role was that of Blanche in A Streetcar Named
Desire. Her many film parts include Chaplin's Limelight (1952),
Anna Karenina and Wuthering Heights. Her appearances on American
television range from soap operas (As the World Turns) to miniseries
(Edith Wilson in Backstairs at the White House) to Masterpiece
Theatre (Brideshead Revisited). Her first marriage was to actor Rod
Steiger, her third to novelist Phillip Roth. (Bloom and Roth penned very
unflattering accounts of each other after their 1995 breakup, Bloom's appearing
in her autobiography) Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Pen skipped while
writing signature, which has low contrast but is legible. Tape residue at top
and bottom edges (does not touch siganture). Lightly worn and rounded corners.
Otherwise in fine condition.
