Documentary Letter signed: "Claire Trevor", 2 pages (front and verso), 8½x11 with 8½x2
rider stapled to left margin. New York, N.Y., 1947 January 23. Also signed "Armina
Marshall" for the Theatre Guild. Trevor signs her agreement to perform in a 1-hour radio
version of The Farmer Takes a Wife, co-starring William Holden and Kenneth Delmar. She
is to receive $750 for the performance. CLAIRE TREVOR (1909-2000), made her first
feature film in 1933. The actress was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy
Award three times: Dead End (1937), Key Largo (1948) and The High and the Mighty
(1954); she won the Oscar in 1948. In the 1950s, Trevor began appearing on television,
winning an Emmy Award in 1956 for her role in Dodsworth opposite Fredric March.
ARMINA MARSHALL (1895-1991) was a Tony-winning playwright and producer. The
Farmer Takes a Wife, a popular 1934 play, inspired two feature films and a stage musical as
well as this radio performance. Right edge lightly chipped. Corners creased and notched.
