City. Date: July 22. Written on personal letterhead. In full: “My dear Mr. Crouch. In reply to
your inquiry of the 19th, regarding Galli-Curci and am happy to give you the desired information.
She lives in Los Angeles at the following address: 110 Tilden Ave. and is engaged in painting
pictures in which field she has become very expert. She has been in this country ever since her
retirement and has not been East for nine years, although we have made numerous attempts to
bring her in connection with the promotion of her biography which was published last year and is
going well. I can supply you with a picture and a good story for your paper if you want it and be

Le Massena was a writer, composer and musicologist who knew Galli-Curci very well and
devoted many years in research and compilation of the voluminous data covering her thirty
years of public ministration. In her book Galli-Curci's Life of Song, she brought to light
many little-known facts and plenty of high spots long forgotten along with several anecdotes,
personal traits and trends. Other of her works include: Pandora: an operetta in three acts:
founded on Hawthorne's story The paradise of children and Talking your way through
Europe: conversational aids for travelers abroad, English, French, German. Lightly toned.
