CLARENCE "FROGMAN" HENRY
Signed black and white printed photo of the musician known as "Frogman" smiling
Inscribed Printed Photograph signed in Ink: "To Theresa/ Frog Man/ Henry" in black felt tip,
b/w, 8x10 overall, image 7¼x9 (one surface). Photograph by Cricchio-Bragg. Name imprinted
at lower margin. Rhythm and blues singer Clarence Henry (1937-2024) got his nickname
"Frogman" from his trademark "croaking" singing style on his 1956 hit single, "Ain't Got
No Home". Frogman, who played piano and trombone for Bobby Mitchell and the Toppers
(1952-1955) before joining Eddie Smith's band, had subsequent hits with "It Won't Be
Long", "I'm In Love", and "I Found a Home". Although he opened for 18 Beatles
concerts across the U.S. and Canada in 1964, Frogman spent most of his career on New
Orleans' Bourbon Street, and he frequently performed at the annual New Orleans Jazz &
Heritage Festival. Minor surface creases, scratches, and smudges (most not evident
head-on). Faint crease at flourish of "Henry". Otherwise, fine condition.
