stamps affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Clarence Dickinson Long (1908-1994) was
born in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated with a Ph.D. from Princeton
University in 1938 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. A professor
and author, Long was a member of the Council of Economic Advisers to the
President (1953-1954, 1956-1957). He was elected to the U.S. House of
Representatives as a Democrat from Maryland and served from January 3, 1963
until January 3, 1985. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
