Signed sentiment of the British comic actor, known as "The Professional Idiot." Extremely rare!
Autograph sentiment signed: "Sincerely yours/Claude Dampier", in black ink, 3x1¾. Britain's Claude Dampier (1879-1955) played the quintessential dope in English comedies for over 30 years. Soupy faced and bucked-tooth, he became known as "The Professional Idiot", famously appearing in The Adventures of Algy (1925), Remember When (1937) and Mr. Stringfellow Says No (1934). Before beginning his film career Dampier toured Australia with Edward Branscombe's Dandies between 1910 and 1917. He is the father of actress Dorothy Dampier. Soiled. Toned. Adhesive residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
