Autograph notes signed: "Dear Billy,/ Heaps of luck./ Good health,/ and a happy life -/ Claude Gillingwater/ Oct, 1932" in pencil. 1 page, 6x4½. Claude Gillingwater (1870-1939) was an American stage and screen actor. After studying law, he decided to become a traveling salesman and unintentionally fell in with a small theatrical company, putting him in the pathway of Hollywood studio boss/actress Mary Pickford, who secured him for her film Little Lord Fauntleroy (1921), the first of over ninety film roles he would have. His other film credits include Three Wise Fools (1923), 45 Minutes from Hollywood (1926), City Limits (1934), A Tale of Two Cities (1935), and Little Miss Broadway (1938). From the album collection of child actor BILLY SEAY (1922-2012), who appeared in many films throughout the decade including The Greater Glory (1926), My Man (1928), and The Marriage Playground (1929). Seay would leave Hollywood in the early 1930s to become a noted artist and illustrator. Toned. Small stains throughout. Creased throughout. Binding holes in left margin. Corners rounded.
