Sepia-toned lobby card for the 1949 Republic serial Ghost of Zorro, signed by actor Clayton Moore with his own name and as "Zorro". Ghost of Zorro was released the same year that Moore debuted as another western vigilante, as TV's The Lone Ranger.
Inscribed lobby card signed "To/Steve/Clayton Moore/'Zorro'". Spanish-language pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. B/w sepia-toned, 14x11, printed on cardstock. Lobby card for the 1949 Republic serial Ghost of Zorro. Moore starred as Ken Mason and his alter ego Zorro in Ghost of Zorro. Moore appeared in 10 other movies in 1949, but his most famous performance that year was on TV, when he debuted in the title role of TV's The Lone Ranger (1949-1952, 1954-1957). Moore (1914-1999, born Jack Carlton Moore in Chicago, Illinois) entered show business as a young circus acrobat. He worked his way up the ladder in Hollywood Westerns from extra to stunt man to supporting actor, reaching stardom on television as The Lone Ranger from 1949 and 1952 and 1954 to 1957. Thereafter he made a good living from commercials and public appearances as The Lone Ranger. Lightly toned, foxed, soiled, stained and creased. Pinholes in corners and at top and bottom edges. Light tears at right edge. Rounded and worn corners with missing bottom left corner. Otherwise in fine condition.
