Printed Art signed: "Best Wishes/Cleavon Little". 7½x9.Black ink drawing of Little, signed by him in blue ballpoint and a facsimile signature from the artist Jim Sharpe. CLEAVON LITTLE (1939-1992) won Tony and Drama Desk awards as Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Purlie (1971). He played Sheriff Bart in Mel Brooks' comedy Blazing Saddles (1974), and made frequent TV and feature film appearances until his early death from cancer. He won an Emmy for a guest appearance on Dear John (1989), and had recurring roles on two TV series, Baghdad Café and True Colors, shortly before his death. JIM SHARPE (1936-2005) began in commercial advertising, doing artwork for Chevrolet, General Electric, ABC Sports, and many other clients. As a freelance artist, he produced covers for publications as various as Cosmopolitan, Popular Mechanics and TV Guide. Between 1976 and 1991, he illustrated 13 US stamps in the performing artists' series. In the 1970s, ABC's 20/20 program used him to illustrate events for which no film was available, like the Howard Hughes saga and the death of Elvis Presley. He created commemorative coins for the Olympic Games of 1992 and 1994. Corners creased. Fine condition.
