Clementine Churchill (1885-1977) married future British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1908 and remained his companion and confidante until his death in 1965. A recent collection of their letters (1999), assembled by daughter Mary Soames, reveals that "Clemmie" took an early and active interest her husband's politics.
