Her rare signature in white ink on this 6½x8½ photograph
Photograph signed: "Sincerely/Cleo Madison". Sepia, 6½x8½. Cleo Madison (1883-1964) was a West Coast stage actress before entering silent films in 1912. After being featured in a series of shorts, she starred in the 15-part serial Trey of Hearts (1914), playing both the heroine and twin sister, intended bride of the villain. She then played first and second female leads in action and adventure films through 1924, when she made her last movie, The Roughneck. Signature lightly beaded but legible. Corners worn. Staple impressions at center top edge. Mounting residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
