CLEOPATRA JONES AND THE CASINO OF GOLD MOVIE CAST
An Employment of Day Player contract for Byron Kane's narration for
Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold, signed by him and casting
director Alan Shayne
One Day Movie Contract signed: "Byron Kane", "Alan Shayne",
8½x6. March 5, 1975. One Day contract for the actor's narration for
Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold at the rate of $172.50 a
day. Although Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold is listed as the
production title, neither Kane nor Shayne appear in the credits; this casting
was likely for the television trailer. BYRON KANE (1923-1984) was well
known for his work as an announcer, from The Story Lady radio series,
to Stan Freberg TV specials and commercials, to narrating documentaries. Kane,
who is perhaps best known on the small screen for his role as Barney on
Peter Gunn (1958-1961), also did voice work for such TV shows as
The Hardy Boys TV series (1969), Tales of Washington Irving (1970)
and The All-New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show (1983). He also guest
starred on a number of TV shows, including I Love Lucy (1954, 1957),
77 Sunset Strip (1963) and The Twilight Zone (1964). In addition
to narrating the 1981 documentary, A Dream Called Walt Disney
World, Kane's feature film credits include The Lady From
Shanghai (1947), The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976) and
S.O.B. (1981). Beginning his early career as an actor of Broadway and
film, ALAN SHAYNE (b. 1925) found most of his success instead as a
casting director, casting for 10 Broadway plays and 14 film and television
credits. Shayne casted the original Broadway productions of plays I Can
Get it for You Wholesale (1962) and Oliver! (1963), and casted
films All the Way Home (1963), Lovers and Other Strangers
(1970), and All The President's Men (1976). He also produced a number
of made for television movies in the 1970's and 1980's, with his very last
entertainment credit being as producer on The Man in the Brown Suit.
