Comedian and actor Cliff Arquette signed this contract in 1961 to appear live as a guest artist on Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall for $5,000. Arquette is probably best known as Charley Weaver from The Jack Paar Show.
Annotated contract signed "Cliff Arquette" as Performer with his telephone number and Social Security Number and initialed "C.A.", both in blue ink. Also signed and initialed by an assistant secretary with Roncom Productions, Inc. in blue ink. 2 pages, 8½x10¾, one sheet, front and verso, with 12 single-sided pages of riders, bound with 1 staple. May 11, 1961. Headed: "Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract for Single Television Broadcast/and for Multiple Television Broadcasts within One Calendar Week". Arquette signed this contract to appear live on the May 31, 1961 episode of Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall as a guest artist. He was to be paid $5,000 for this appearance. Comedian, actor, pianist, composer and songwriter Arquette (1905-1974), born Clifford Arquette, created the character Charley Weaver for The Jack Paar Show (1958-1962) and provided the voice for the talking maple syrup bottle in television commercials for Mrs. Butterworth's. Game show fans may recognize him from the lower left square on The Hollywood Squares (1966-1974). Lightly toned, stained and creased. Paper clip impressions and rust stains in top left corner. Last page is separating from staple. Otherwise in fine condition.
