in 1974, to reply to a request for the addresses of Wyoming's former governors
and senators.
Typed letter signed "Cliff Hansen" as U.S. Senator. 1
page, 8x10½, on letterhead of the U. S. Senate Committee on Interior and Insular
Affairs. May 8, 1974. Addressed to Danny L. Franklin, Phoenix, Arizona.
In full: "Dear Mr. Franklin: Thank you for your letter requesting the
names and addresses of former Governor's [sic] and U.S. Senator's [sic] from
Wyoming. There are only three former Governor's [sic] living and one former
Senator Milward L. Simpson who also served as Governor from 1955-1959. The
names and addresses are:[Hansen then lists the names and addresses of
Nellie Tayloe Ross, Nels H. Smith and Milward L. Simpson] Again, thank you for
writing and for your kind words. Sincerely". Hansen (1912-2009) was a
Republican U. S. Senator from Wyoming from 1967 to 1978. He had
previously served as Governor of Wyoming (1963-1967). A rancher, Hansen
sat on the boards of a number of financial and civic organizations. Slightly
creased. Fine condition.
