Letterhead from his address in New York City. In Full: “Thanks for your letter. I
don't have any photographs right now, but when I do I'll be glad to send one to
you”. Clifford Irving (b. 1930) is an author and reporter. He penned a hoax
autobiography of Howard Hughes in 1972; only Irving and a few close
confidants were in on the fact the entire manuscript was fake. Even
prospective publisher McGraw-Hill was fooled by Irving. Eventually, the hoax was
uncovered and Irving had to serve 17 months in jail. Irving's publications include
On a Darkling Plain (1956), The Death Freak (1976), and Trial (1987). Lightly
toned. Mailing creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
