Clifford Odets signs and addressed an envelope.
Autograph Envelope signed: "Odets" at upper left corner, 9½x4.
Los Angeles, California, 1947 June 19. Addressed by Odets to: "Miss
Ruth Chapman, Vogue Studios, 480 Lexington Ave, N.Y.C." The playwright
has also written "Airmail" at upper margin. Dramatist Clifford
Odets (1906-1963), who wrote Waiting for Lefty, Awake and
Sing, Golden Boy and The Country Girl, also adapted the
screenplay for None But the Lonely Heart (1944) from a book by Richard
Llewellyn. Odets, who directed that film, also directed The Story on Page
One (1960) and made a cameo appearance in The General Died at Dawn
(1936, un-credited). The playwright/screenwriter/actor was married to
actresses Luise Rainer and Bette Grayson and had publicized affairs with Frances
Farmer and Fay Wray, among others. Lightly creased. Shaded at lower margin,
touching "N.Y.C." Torn open at upper edge. Overall, fine
condition.
