[CLINT EASTWOOD]
Color unsigned lobby card for the 1964 film A Fistful of Dollars.
Lobby Card, unsigned. Color, 14x11. Promotion featuring Eastwood in his role in the 1964 film, A Fistful of Dollars, which is billed as "the first motion picture of its kind. It won't be the last!" True to the tagline, A Fistful of Dollars was the first of the trilogy of "Dollar" or "The Man With No Name" films in which Eastwood would star. This film, which popularized the Italian Western, was followed by For A Few Dollars More (1965) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). ©1966, United Artists Corporation. Captioned at lower margin. Originally released as Per Un Pugno Di Dollari in Italy on September 12,1964, A Fistful of Dollars did not debut in the U.S. until January 18, 1967 due to copyright problems. In addition to Eastwood, who played a cynical gunfighter who offers his services to two rival gangs in a small border town, the cast included Marianne Koch as Marisol, Gian Maria Volonté as Ramon Rojo, Wolfgang Lukschy as John Baxter and Mario Brega as Chico. At the time he made this film, actor Clint Eastwood (born in 1930) was starring as Rowdy Yates (1959-1966) on the TV series, Rawhide. A Fistful of Dollars made him a major star in the "Spaghetti Westerns" of Sergio Leone and brought him increasingly important roles in U.S. films. While continuing to make Westerns, Eastwood proved a popular, hard-boiled detective as well, beginning with Dirty Harry (1971). He played sensitive roles as well, such as opposite Meryl Streep in The Bridges of Madison County (1995), which he also directed. Eastwood has continued to succeed as an older actor in films including In the Line of Fire (1995) and Space Cowboys (2000), and he has also proven to be an outstanding director, winning Academy Awards for Best Director for Unforgiven (1991) and Million Dollar Baby (2004) and receiving a Best Director Oscar nomination for Mystic River (2003). Minor surface creases (not evident head on) at upper background. Fine condition.
