Bros. Circus letterhead
Typed Letter signed: "Clyde Beatty", 1p, 8x10½ with black and white 7x9 unsigned
photograph matted to 21¾x15½. Circus-Enroute, 1961 August 15. On Clyde Beatty-Cole
Bros. Circus letterhead. To Mr. Jack Fife, The Mishkin Agency, Beverley Hills, California. In
full: "Dog-gone it - hearty congratulations to you and Nancy on your recent marriage!
Know you both will be wonderfully happy always, and Jane and I are so delighted and
hoppy for you both. Bestest always. Will get a couple of the 1961 Programs off to you at
this writing [not present], which you asked for. Also the route as far as I have it, up
through Spt. 4th. Jack, you asked about transcript recordings? Do you mean for the
radio show? I assume you do, and of course, Walter White still has those. You can contact
Walter if you should happen to need them. By the way, sold Jungleland, and planning on
moving back to California. You may have already heard about this, or of my plans to get
rid of it. It's all over, and Jane and Clydie are on the show with me until Sept. They both
send love and join me in sending you and Nancy warmest good wishes for a lifetime of
happiness. As ever," Lion tamer and animal trainer Clyde Beatty (1903-1965) is best
remembered for his "fighting act" -- in which he entered a cage of snarling beasts
armed only with a bullwhip and a pistol strapped to his hip. By the 1930s, Beatty owned
outright or allowed his name to be used by different circuses for which he performed. Beatty
was also popular in feature films during the 1930s-1950s. Fine condition. Matted by
unknown individual. Not reviewed by us for conservation integrity. "As is" matting
purchase.
