Black and white photograph (3½x5½) of Dodgers catcher Clyde Sukeforth-in uniform and position-no mask!
Photograph signed: "Clyde Sukeforth". B/w 3½x5½. Clyde Sukeforth (1901-2000) caught in the Major Leagues with the Cincinnati Reds (1926-1931) and Brooklyn Dodgers (1932-1934, returning in 1945 to fill in for players off to war). His effectiveness was diminished after he lost an eye in a 1931 hunting accident. As a coach and scout for the Dodgers, Sukeforth scouted Jackie Robinson, and was the only other person in the room when Dodger general manager Branch Rickey told Robinson he was going to break the color barrier. With Dodger manager Leo Durocher suspended for consorting with gamblers, Sukeforth filled in as acting manager during Robinson's first and second Major League games. Fine condition.
