Typed DS: "Cole Porter", 2 pages, separate sheets, 8½x11. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Loew Building, New York, 1957 June 10. A royalty agreement in letter form to Porter from Sol C. Siegel Productions, signed: "Sol C. Siegel", accepted and agreed to by Porter. Begins: "We are concurrently entering into an agreement with you dated June 10th, 1957, whereunder you have written and composed the words and music of the musical numbers in the feature motion picture photoplay presently entitled 'LES GIRLS' produced by us and to be distributed by Loew's Incorporated...we shall not interpolate in said motion picture any musical compositions not written by you, except that we shall have the right to use national or patriotic airs, excerpts from operas, musical compositions of an atmospheric nature, musical compositions in the public domain, and arrangements thereof...." Les Girls, starring Gene Kelly and Mitzi Gaynor, won the 1958 Academy Award for Best Costume Design and the 1958 Golden Globe for Best Picture. COLE PORTER (1891-1964) composed music and lyrics for more than 20 musicals, including Anything Goes (1934), Kiss Me, Kate (1948), Silk Stockings (1955), and High Society (1956). His compositions include "Night and Day", "Begin the Beguine", and "I've Got You Under My Skin". Other films SOL C. SIEGEL (1903-1982), producer of Les Girls, produced include: A Letter to Three Wives, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Three Coins in the Fountain and There's No Business Like Show Business.
