AL WORDEN
This is a photo of the Apollo 15 Saturn V rocket just moments after taking off from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center. It's signed by Worden with his mission and position, "CMP".
Photograph signed "Al Worden/Apollo 15 CMP". Color, 8x9¾. This photo is of the Apollo 15 Saturn V rocket at launch from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center. Astronauts Al Worden was one of three men, along with Jim Irwin and Dave Scott, to ride this rocket to the Moon. To give you some idea of the size of this monster, Worden was sitting in that little cone at the very top of the Saturn V. Alfred Merrill "Al" Worden (born in 1932) was serving in the U.S. Air Force when he was among the 19 astronauts selected by NASA in April 1966. A member of the astronaut support crew for Apollo 9 and the backup command module pilot for Apollo 12, Worden was the command module pilot for Apollo 15 (July 26-August 7, 1971). He logged 38 minutes of EVAs outside the "Endeavor". Worden was later President of Maris Worden Aerospace, Inc. and Vice President of BF Goodrich Aerospace (Bucksville, Ohio). Lightly bowed, otherwise in fine condition.
