Envelope signed: "Brian Duffy" in black ink, 6½x3½. American astronaut Brian Duffy was born in June 20, 1953 in Boston, Massachusetts. He received a BS in Mathematics from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1975 and a Master of Science degree in systems management from the University of Southern California in 1981. He was selected by NASA in 1985 and became an astronaut in 1986. He served as a spacecraft communicator during several space missions and was Assistant Director and Deputy Director of the Johnson Space Center. Duffy has logged over forty hours in space serving on STS-45 Atlantis (March 24 to April 2, 1992), STS-57 Endeavour (June 21 to July 1, 1993), STS-72 Endeavour (January 11-20, 1996) and STS-92 Discovery (October 11-24, 2000). He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and NASA Space Flight Medals.
