Manuscript Letter Signed: "Carlos Duboy" in iron gall ink. 8½x7¾. Fully Translated in English: "October 12, 1899. Lieutenant Colonel Jose F. Lamas . Lieutenant Colonel: The Presidency of this Council has decided to confer you a secret important commission and it hopes you will perform it with the characteristic activity and discretion. This secretary will give you verbal instructions for the mission that has been conferred to you. Yours, The Secretary. Colonel Carlos Duboy." Carlos Duboy was a Colonel who fought for the independence of Cuba and who served as a secretary of the Institute "Veteranos de la Independencia" (Veterans of the Independence). Signer merits further research. Multiple mailing folds. Toned and soiled. Staple marks at left blank margin. Purple pencil notation on verso (unknown hand). Moth marked. Otherwise, fine condition.
