Tracing of the left hand of the Marine Corps' only jet fighter ace
Hand Print signed: "John F. Bolt/Lt Col USMC", 7½x10. John F. Bolt (1921-2004) was the last surviving pilot to have earned ace status in two wars. He downed six Japanese planes while flying with VMF-214, the legendary "Black Sheep Squadron," in World War II. He scored another six in an F-86 in Korea, the only US Marine Corps jet ace nd the only naval aviator to earn ace status in two wars. He was awarded the Navy Cross. After retiring from the service, Lt. Col. Bolt went to law school at the University of Florida (in the same class as his son) and became an attorney for the city of New Smyrna Beach.
