Philatelic Envelope signed: "Karol J. Bobko/Shuttle Astronaut", "S.D. Griggs" and "Harley Weyer", 6½x3½. Rubber-stamped pictorial cachet at upper left: "Grumman Gulfstream II/Shuttle Training Aircraft (Sta)". 13-cent Independence Hall stamp affixed, postmarked White Sands Missile Range, N.M., November 21, 1977. BOBKO was the pilot on Challenger STS-6 (1983) and the mission Commander on Discovery STS-51D (1985) and Atlantis STS-51J (1985). GRIGGS (1939-1989) was Mission Specialist on Discovery STS-51D (1985). He was killed on June 17, 1989 in the crash of a vintage WWII airplane. At the time of his death, he was in flight crew training as pilot for Discovery STS-33, a Department of Defense mission, scheduled for launch in August 1989. WEYER was the Flight Engineer on this shuttle training flight. Light stain from address label at lower right touches the lower portion of Weyer's signature. Fine condition.
