The World War II U.S. Air Force fighter Ace signs an envelope commemorating the U.S. Bicentennial Reenactment of the Rochambeau March.
Commemorative Envelope signed: "Leslie Minchew/Colonel USAF Retired", 6½x3¾. Envelope commemorating the U.S. Bicentennial Reenactment of Rochambeau March, Providence, Rhode Island - Verplanck, New York, June 19-July 4. 1976, 13-cent U.S. stamp affixed. World War II U.S. Air Force fighter Ace, Leslie David Minchew, was born on August 3, 1920 in Paola, Florida. After graduating from USAAF Flight Training, he joined the 50th Fighter Group. He was assigned to the 354th Fighter Squadron and was stationed at Steeple Morden, England in 1943. Minchew also fought with the 355th Fighter Group and scored six "kills" in his P-51 fighter. After the war, he earned a Law Degree from the University of Florida and fought in both Korea and Vietnam. Slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
