Printed photograph signed in ink: "Don Mallick", "Ray Young". B/w, 10x8. The NASA test pilots, who helped develop the space shuttle, are shown in flight gear at the Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards, California. DON MALLICK (born in 1930) was a NASA research pilot at the Dryden Flight Research Center from 1963-1981, later becoming Deputy Chief of the Dryden Aircraft Operations Division. Chief Pilot from 1967, he was involved in the YF-12 and XB-70 research programs, and in the mid-1960s, he was chief project pilot for NASA's Lunar Landing Research Vehicle (LLRV). RAY YOUNG was one of the flight engineers on NASA's YF-12 crew. He also did research and testing on the X-15 rocket plane. Fine condition.
