Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Ed/With good wishes/Bob Overmyer." Color, 8x10. U.S. Marine Corps Colonel Robert Overmyer, who was first chosen for the USAF Manned Orbiting Laboratory Program in 1966, was later selected as a NASA astronaut. His maiden voyage, on the Columbia space shuttle (November 11-16, 1982) with Vance Brand, William Lenoir and Joseph Allen, was the first time four crew members were sent into space. Overmyer was later part of the seven member international crew of the Challenger space shuttle (April 29-May 6, 1985), which carried the European Spacelab module. He was 59 when he died in the crash of the VK30 prototype plane he was testing. Fine condition.
