Envelope signed: "Steve Nagel", 6½x3¾. Stamped "Bakekr (sic) Nunn Spacetrack/APO San Francisco, CA" at upper margin, 20-cent stamp affixed, postmarked Army Postal Service, July 5, 1982. A former U.S. Air Force test pilot, Steven R. Nagel, who was selected by NASA in January 1978, became an astronaut in August 1979. Nagel (1946-2014) logged 723 hours in space on four shuttle flights. He was a Mission Specialist on STS-51G Discovery (June 17-24, 1985), the Pilot for STS-61A, the West German D-1 Spacelab mission (October 30-November 6, 1985), the Commander of STS-37 Atlantis (April 5-11, 1991) and the Commander of STS-55, the German D-2 Spacelab mission (April 26-May 6, 1993). Lightly creased. Postmark smudged. Otherwise, fine condition.
