Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968) became the first human in space when he was launched aboard Vostok 1 on April 12, 1961. He made one orbit in a flight that lasted only an hour and 48 minutes. Upon his return, Gagarin was celebrated as a national hero. He was in training for another mission when the Mig-15 he was piloting crashed in 1968. Edges frayed, with small tears. Lightly toned. Stray ink mark at left center. Vertical and horizontal folds, not at signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
