CONNIE CHUNG
Connie Chung sends a typed letter to a fan.
Typed Letter signed: "Connie Chung", 1p, 7¼x10½. New York, New York, 1983 December 1. On NBC News stationery. To Kenneth E. Crouch, Bedford, Virginia, in full: "Thank you ever so much for your note. I am just delighted to send you an autographed picture (not present) for your collection. I sure hope that you like it. Thank you for taking the time to write". Signed on by CBS in 1971, Chung began covering stories for the CBS Evening News before becoming a co-anchor for network affiliate KNXT in Los Angeles in 1976. She also became a substitute anchor for the national evening news and did many weekend and morning broadcasts. Won over to NBC in 1983, Chung performed similar duties on the NBC Nightly News and its parallel daytime broadcasts. Moving back to CBS in 1989, Chung became the network's regular anchor for the Sunday edition of the CBS Evening News and often substituted during the week for Dan Rather. On June 1, 1993, on CBS, Chung became the first woman to co-anchor a major network's national news broadcast since Barbara Walters was teamed with Harry Reasoner on ABC in 1976. Lightly creased. Folds, one touching "C" and "Ch" of signature. Overall, fine condition.
