CONNIE DANESE
Actress sends letter of thanks to John Willis, editor of Theatre World, and updates him on her currently play
Autograph letter signed: "Connie Danese" in blue ink. 1 page, 6½x9½ flat, 6½x4 folded. Written on personal stationary. May 24. In full: "Dear Mr. Willis, Many thanks for the info re: bio references in Thea. World - and for the good wishes for a hit show - wish I'd received them sooner - I just completed a "big" 2 - week run in Ionescopade (K.Bloomgarden, prod. - Off. B.)...Oh well, maybe next year...To answer your question, I was born in N.Y.C. on December 2 and attended the H.S. of Performing Arts (Drama Major). Once again thank you for your response and your "Worlds". Sincerely". Connie Danese appeared in two off-Broadway plays in 1972, Ionescopade and The Contract. However, Internet Broadway Database still does not credit her for No, No Nanette. Danese has been seen in a few films, from beginning with Groucho (in the role of Margaret Dumont, 1982), and in many TV series, including Hart to Hart to NYPD Blue. She is cast in the movie Neron, due for release in 2013. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Normal mailing folds. Top edge frayed. Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
