BLANCHE SWEET (1895-1986) worked in silent films under D.W. Griffith and Cecil B. DeMille. She was best known for the title role in the 1923 film, Anna Christie, She appeared in only three "talkies" before returning to the stage, appearing in plays on Broadway and with touring companies.
