Signature: "Conrad Nagel" in black ink. 1 page, 6x4½. A stage actor since 1914, CONRAD NAGEL (1897-1970) made his film debut in 1918 and became one of the top matinee idols of the silent screen. His feature film credits include Little Women (1918), Quality Street (1927), All That Heaven Allows (1956) and The Man Who Understood Women(1959, his last film). He also hosted TV's The Silver Theatre (1949) and Conrad Nagel Theatre (1955). One of the 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (and its President from October 1931 to April 1933), Nagel received a special Academy Award for his work on the Motion Picture Relief Fund in 1939. From the album collection of child actor BILLY SEAY (1922-2012), who appeared in many films throughout the decade including The Greater Glory (1926), My Man (1928), and The Marriage Playground (1929). Seay would leave Hollywood in the early 1930s to become a noted artist and illustrator. Toned and slightly soiled. Small stains throughout. Binding holes in left margin. Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
