Inscribed photograph signed "Joseph!/A table for one/And spaghetti for two!!/Conrad Nagel" in white ink. B/w sepia-toned, 7¾x9¾ overall, 7½x9½ image, one surface, printed on cardstock, rounded corners. Joseph "Peppino" Micoli was the owner of Peppino's Restaurant on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California. A stage actor since 1914, Nagel (1897-1970, born in Keokuk, Iowa) made his film debut in 1918 and became one of the top matinee idols of the silent screen. His feature film credits include Little Women (1918), Quality Street (1927), All That Heaven Allows (1956) and The Man Who Understood Women (1959, his last film). He also hosted TV's The Silver Theatre (1949) and Conrad Nagel Theatre (1955). One of the 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (and its President from October 1931 to April 1933), Nagel received a special Academy Award for his work on the Motion Picture Relief Fund in 1939. Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Light dent in top left corner. Missing bottom right corner. Lightly stained on verso. Otherwise in fine condition.
