In Conspiracy Theory (1997), Jerry Fletcher (Gibson), a deeply obsessed conspiracy theorist, finds himself hunted down by unknown agents when one of his theories seems to come true. His only hope for safety is with Government insider Alice Sutton (Roberts), whom he's been obsessed with for years, but does not know. Born in the U.S., despite the Australian accent he acquired growing up "down under," Mel Gibson emerged as an action hero, first in the three Mad Max films (1979-1985) and four Lethal Weapon movies (1987-1998). He has proved himself in a wide variety of starring roles, including The Year of Living Dangerously (1982), Hamlet (in the title role, 1990), Maverick (1994), Braveheart (1995), What Women Want (2000) and Signs (2002). He debuted impressively as a director, winning an Oscar in this role for Braveheart. He wrote, produced and directed the controversial but powerful The Passion of the Christ (2004). Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1990 for Steel Magnolias and for Best Actress in 1991 for Pretty Woman, Julia Roberts (b.1967) won the 2001 Academy Award for Best Actress for the title role in Erin Brockovich. She also won Golden Globes for all three performances. Roberts, whose other films include Mystic Pizza (1988), Sleeping With the Enemy (1991), Hook (1991), The Pelican Brief (1993), Something to Talk About (1995), My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), Notting Hill (1999), Runaway Bride (1999), Ocean's 11 (2001), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), Closer (2004) and Ocean's 12 (2004), made her Broadway debut in Three Days of Rain in April 2006. The sister of actor Eric Roberts, she has been married to singer Lyle Lovett (1993-1995) and cameraman Daniel Moder (since July 2002), with whom she has twins. Fine condition.
