CONSTANCE BENNETT
Constance Bennett signs a contract with William Morris Agency for
them to represent her for one year.
Typed Document Signed: "Constance Bennett" as Artist,
front and verso, 8½x14. No place, 1961 February 7. On letterhead of the
William Morris Agency. Headed: "Exclusive Agency Contract". The
actress employs the William Morris Agency as her agent for the period of
February 7, 1961-February 6, 1962 at a commission of 10%. The contract was
to be sent to the actress at her New York address. Also initialed:
"CB" twice at changes marked on the first page. Also signed
by a member of the William Morris Agency, Inc. as Agent beneath Bennett's
signature. The sister of actresses Joan and Barbara Bennett, Constance
Bennett (1905-1965) appeared in silent movies of the 1920s, then returned to
films in the 1930s in fallen woman and light comedy roles. Before she
signed this contract, Bennett, who made 57 films, including
Topper (1937) and Paris Underground (which she also produced,
1945), had last appeared on film as herself in It Should Happen to
You (1954). Five years later, she would later appear in her last
film, the made-for-TV movie, Madame X (1966). Lightly creased.
Lightly shaded at blank margins. Ink notes (unknown hand) on signature page,
light show through of print. 2 file holes at upper blank margin. Overall, fine
condition.
