Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/Saul/Constance Collier". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: June 29, 1936. Although she preferred the stage, British actress/director/playwrightConstance Collier (1878-1955) appeared in films in both comic and dramatic roles, beginning with D. W. Griffith's Intolerance (1916). Her best remembered films include Stage Door (1937). Collier was esteemed as a drama coach; her pupils included close friend Katharine Hepburn. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Pinhead size marks. Lighlty worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
