Constance Cummings (1910-2005) was a Broadway chorus dancer before
breaking into Hollywood films with successes in The Criminal Code (1931)
and Movie Crazy (1932). Marrying British playwright and parliamentarian
W. Benn Levy in 1933, she earned acclaim on the London stage, with
starring performances in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Long
Day's Journey Into Night. Awarded the Order of the British Empire in
1974, she returned triumphantly to New York, winning a Tony for Best
Actress in Wings (1979). Lightly creased, vertical fold at the "g" of
Cummings. Minor stains at upper, lower left and right and lower margins.
