Photograph signed: "To Saul/Sincerely/Constance Cummings". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature January 14, 1935. Constance Cummings (1910-2005) was a Broadway chorus dancer before breaking into Hollywood films with successes in The Criminal Code (1931) and Movie Crazy (1932). Marrying British playwright and parliamentarian W. Benn Levy in 1933, she earned acclaim on the London stage, withstarring performances in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Long Day's Journey Into Night. Awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1974, she returned triumphantly to New York, winning a Tony for Best Actress in Wings (1979). Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Minor surface dings. Fine condition.
