Autograph letter signed: "Constance & Bud Helmericks" in
black ink. 6x7 letter affixed to 8½x11 sheet. May 28, 1946, written on the
original letter sent to her. In full: "Answer: You bet I will, Ralph. We just
read your letter today, May 28, 1946, at a very primitive Eskimo village 240
miles east of Pt. Barrow, Alaska- our first mail bag in a year! We hope you are
out of the hospital by now. Will you like our next book on exploring the Arctic?

Helmericks (1918-1987) was an American author. Along with her
husband, explorer Bud Helmericks, she co-authored We Live in
Alaska, all about their life in the Alaskan outskirts. She went on to
write other titles, such as Hunting in North America, Down the Wild
River North, and Australian Adventure. Lightly toned. Corners
rounded. Adhesive residue shown through from verso. Magazine photo of Helmericks
affixed to page. Otherwise, fine condition.
