CORA J. GORDON
Signature of the traveling writer, artist and musician
Signature: "Cora J. Gordon/13th April", 4¼x1½. Englishwoman Cora J. Gordon (1879-1950) married Jan Gordon in 1909. Until Jan's death in 1944, the couple traveled around Europe, often on a motorcycle with a hand-painted compartment bearing their luggage ("the Wandering Wardrobe"). Cora was a talented painter, guitarist and writer. Their first book, The Luck of Thirteen (1916) described the life with a Red Cross unit serving the Serbian Army in World War I, and was lavishly illustrated with Cora's artwork. Many books followed. In her final years, Cora Gordon continued to paint, and was in demand as a lecturer. Interest in the Gordon's was rekindled by re-issue in 2007 of their book Two Vagabonds in Languedoc. Fold in center. Irregularly cut. Light surface creases. Adhesive residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
