Hull's signature on a 3½x2¼ card. Accompanied by original mailing envelope and signed letter from his secretary.
Signature: "Cordell Hull" in pen, 3½x2¼ card. Accompanied by an apologetic letter (March 24, 1937, Washington, D.C.) from Hull's secretary, "Will Harris", who states, "Answering your letter of March 23 [1937], I am sorry that Secretary Hull has no photographs available at this time. His autograph is enclosed." Also accompanied by original mailing envelope. As Secretary of State under Franklin D. Roosevelt, Cordell Hull (1871-1955) was the chief architect of the Good Neighbor Policy toward Latin America. He had previously represented Tennessee as a Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives (1907-1921, 1923-1931) and U.S. Senate (1931-1933) and had served as Chairman of the Democratic National Executive Committee (1921-1924). Early in World War II, Hull began planning a postwar international organizationthat would become the United Nations. In 1945, "the Father of the United Nations" was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Fine condition.
