He was Secretary of State longer than anyone in U.S. history, from 1933-1944. He was awarded the 1945 Nobel Peace Prize for his peace efforts as Secretary of State. Hull was the chief architect of the U.S. Good Neighbor policy towards Latin America and began early in WWII to plan the postwar international organization that became the United Nations. From the personal collection of Ralph Errington Ward (1926-2009). Ward, a fighter pilot and squadron commander in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II, went on to become President and CEO of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc., transforming the cosmetics firm into a major home product conglomerate.
