Inscribed Photograph Signed: "To McCagie B. Rogers/with best wishes/Cordell Hull," in ink. Sepia, 9¼x13. As Secretary of State under Franklin D. Roosevelt, Cordell Hull (1871-1955) was the chief architect of the Good Neighbor Policy toward Latin America. He had previously represented Tennessee as a Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives (1907-1921, 1923-1931) and U.S. Senate (1931-1933) and had served as Chairman of the Democratic National Executive Committee (1921-1924). Early in World War II, Hull began planning a postwar international organization that would become the United Nations. In 1945, the "Father of the United Nations" was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Toned. Left edge very lightly worn. Light adhesive residue at top edge on verso. Otherwise, very fine condition.
