Always/Crystal/Gayle". Color, 8x10. Crystal Gayle is the youngest sister
of country legend Loretta Lynn; she joined her sister's road show at age 16.
Known for her big ballad voice and ankle-length mane of brown hair, Gayle
became a popular country and pop entertainer, touring worldwide (in 1979, she
became the first U.S. country artist to tour China). Her signature
song, "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue", was her biggest hit, and the
album on which it was featured, We Must Believe in Magic, was the first
by a female country music artist to go platinum. Her many awards include
a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance (1977), Academy of
Country Music Top New Female Vocalist (1975), Academy of Country Music Top
Female Vocalist (1976, 1977, 1979), CMA Female Vocalist of the Year (1977, 1979)
and American Music Awards Favorite Female Artist (1979, 1980, 1986). Gayle
was also nominated for a Grammy for her inspirational album, Someday.
